CEO Profile - Raj Nakra

Raj Nakra is a chemical engineer from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT, Delhi) and MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM, Ahmedabad).

Prior to promoting RNA, Raj worked for large Indian and multinational companies for 30 years holding top positions. For 12 years, he had P&L responsibility as Business Head, CEO or Managing Director. He was on the board of several companies of Tata Group and Max Group.

In January, 2007, Raj founded RNA has been its CEO since then.

Credentials - Pharma and Healthcare
  • Negotiated more than a dozen technical collaboration agreements for Max India
  • Negotiated with Gist Brocades, the largest penicillin manufacturer in the world, to establish a JV with Max India. Was also the first CEO of the JV company.
  • Negotiated with Hindustan Antibiotics Limited (HAL) for establishing a unique JV to manufacture pencillin by leasing HAL facilities, on behalf of Max-GB limited.
  • Established non-beta-lactam API facility for Max India in South India, from concept to commissioning and successfully ran it. (The facility is now owned by Jubilant Organosys).
  • Lead role in JV discussions with Upjohn Co. on behalf of Max India
  • Established the first 7 ACA manufacturing plant in India in Max-GB
  • Established two new secondary care hospitals, finalised plans for a tertiary care hospital and helped in recasting the Business model for Max Healthcare Institute

  • Negotiated with Bostik on behalf of Max India to establish a joint venture to manufacture industrial adhesives.
  • Responsible from concept to commissioning of BOPP plant for Max India.
  • Planning JV between Schering AG and Max India for electroplating chemicals in India.
  • Successful rehabilitation of Sole Leather Factory, Jammu on behalf of Tata Exports.
  • Successful establishment of a new SBU for Supply Chain Management for Tata AutoComp.
